Biosketch:
Edward Abraham was born in Chicago, IL, USA and received his formal education at Stanford University where he received his BA in 1974 and his medical degree in 1978. He did his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at UCLA and a fellowship in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Medicine at UCLA. He started his career as Assistant Professor at UCLA in 1983 and moved through the ranks as Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow, Associate Director and Program Director of the Multi-Hospital Critical Care Training Program in 1991, Chief of the Critical Care Services, Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine and then promoted to Associate Chief and Associate Professor in 1989. For the next ten years, he was at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center as Program Director, Director of Critical Care Medicine, Professor in 1996 and became Vice Chair, Administrative Affairs, DOM in 2001. He was Director of the Pulmonary Division from 1999 to 2006. He became Vice Chair, DOM 2004-2006. In March 2006, he moved to UAB where he assumes responsibility as Professor and Chair, Department of Medicine and holds the Spencer Chair in Medical Science Leadership.
